Dates: Asynchronous (No synchronous Zoom sessions: Course opens May 24th-June 3rd)

Instructors:  Jennifer Pickering

Description: In this asynchronous course, participants will view webinar and tutorial videos, explore readings and curriculum connections to Gizmos, practice with various Gizmos, and engage with peers asynchronously in a learning community to discuss plans and ideas for integrating Gizmos in their classrooms. A choice of video tutorials will be provided to allow teachers to best meet their own needs. The overall focus will be on best practices for using Gizmos to support the development of science process skills, and the use of the science and engineering practices of the Next Generation Science Standards. Subtopics will include strategies for grouping students and ways to integrate the use of Gizmos in Canvas to support blended learning. For their final project, participants will align Gizmos to the academic plan for a course they teach, then select one or more Gizmos and produce a plan for integrating the Gizmo(s) into their teaching.

Instructor Note: Participants should have paid access to Gizmos through their school or district (resource license is not included)
