Description: This course explores fundamental concepts in Gestalt theory and their relationship to the elementary music classroom, the lives of music educators, and their students. It will create a foundational understanding of human processing systems that support us in making sense of our relationships with ourselves, others, and the world around us through our art-making. Gestalt theories covered will include, but may not be limited to: Paradoxical Theory of Change, Self as Instrument, Figure/Ground, Cycle of Experience, Gestalt Concept of Contact, Resistance Strategies, and Gestalt Means Wholeness.
